James qualified as a commercial property lawyer at city law firm Simmons & Simmons in 2004. He subsequently spent four years building a London based real estate practice for US newcomers Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells), before joining Ashurst LLP. James left private practice to become an in-house legal transaction manager for Triathlon Homes, supporting them through the successful development of the Olympic Village at Stratford. Initially used by the athletes during the 2012 games, the homes were retrofitted to create high quality affordable housing forming part of the East Village.

James launched Chandler’s House Legal to provide commercially focused legal advice to property owners and developers in all aspects of the sector. The firm’s clients specialise in the mixed-use and multiple-use redevelopment of brownfield sites, as well as build-to-rent investment, affordable housing and retirement living.
